The 8-month-old cocker spaniel that got loose on the Midtown subway tracks was found dead nearly a week after running off on a platform.
MarleyThe grieving owner of the beloved pup is putting the blame on the MTA, saying the transit agency could have done more to bring Marley home alive.
The puppy went missing on May 23 during rush hour when he squirmed out of his harness and took off onto the tracks at the 34th Street station platform.
“The help we received from the MTA, NYPD and Media was good but have NOT reached its full potential,” owner Bianca Ottley wrote in an email to city officials provided to The Post.
A spokesperson for the MTA said, though, northbound N and Q trains were held at first and then slowed as workers searched one of the busiest stations in the city.
Ottley and her mother, Paula Boodoosingh, who was holding the pooch when he got free, said they searched the station in the days after but came up with nothing.
Two straphangers apparently spotted the pup in good spirits wandering the tracks on earlier this week, but they claim the MTA failed to act.
The puppy was eventually found by a track worker on Wednesday just north of the 34th Street subway station, and the remains were returned to the family, according to the MTA.
“This is a very sad outcome, and our condolences go to the family,” the MTA spokesperson said.
