The Long Island mother who lost her daughter to gang violence, only to be fatally struck by a car during an argument over a memorial to the teen, will be buried alongside her child.
Evelyn Rodriguez, 50, will be laid to rest Friday in Queen of All Saints Cemetery on Long Island next to her daughter, Kayla Cuevas, who was killed in September 2016 at the age of 16, according to an activist and friend of Rodriguez.
“Evelyn was a champion. She wouldn’t let up,” said the pal, Sam Gonzalez.
Cuevas and friend Nisa Mickens, 15, were slaughtered by MS-13 gangbangers, officials say. Their bodies were dumped in Brentwood.
The deaths turned Rodriguez into an anti-gang crusader.
She was holding a vigil near the site where Cuevas’ body was found on Friday, the second anniversary of her daughter’s death, when a property owner — frustrated that the memorial was interfering with her ability to sell her lot, mourners claim — started tearing down the tribute.
The woman, who hasn’t been identified or arrested, then mowed down Rodriguez while trying to drive away.
