The mother of a 16-year-old New York girl who was raped and murdered in 1980 is pleading for Gov. Andrew Cuomo to intervene after her daughter’s killer won parole.

Lois Bohovesky, whose daughter Paula was stabbed to death as she walked home from the library in Pearl River, NY, slammed the recent decision to grant convicted murderer Richard LaBarbera parole as an “injustice,” according to Fox News.

“If Governor Cuomo can do anything, please for God’s sake, reverse the decision,” Bohovesky, 87, told the news outlet.

New York is not one of the three states that allow governors to block a parole decision — but the mom hopes Cuomo can pressure the board of his own appointees to reconsider, according to Fox News.

LaBarbera, 66, was one of two men convicted of killing Paula on Oct. 28, 1980, on her walk home from her part-time job at the Pearl River Library.

Both LaBarbera and Robert McCain, 56, have denied they were responsible for the murder, each blaming the other. They were each found guilty of second-degree murder and have spent 38 years in prison on the convictions.

LaBarbera — who was on parole for drug-related offenses at the time of the murder — was drinking at a local bar with McCain when they spotted Paula cross the street.

McCain ran over the teen and hurled a chunk of pavement at the right side of her skull, authorities said. He then dragged her behind a home, where he sexually assaulted her as LaBarbera watched, according to officials.

Under the impression the teen was dead, LaBarbera then reportedly attempted to sexually assault her. But when Paula stirred, he grabbed a knife and stabbed her five times in the back, according to authorities.

The slain teen’s mother said LaBarbera has never expressed remorse for her daughter’s murder.

“I don’t think he’s sorry. He’s never accepted responsibility for it, so how can he be sorry?” she told Fox News. “And McCain keeps yelling that she was not raped. Well, the medical examiner said she was. I wish to God he [the judge] had convicted them of rape because there was no doubt that it happened.”

Lois Bohovesky said she fears for the safety of the community if her daughter’s killers are released. McCain is slated to go before a parole board on June 10, according to Fox News.

“The medical examiner said he’d never seen so brutal an attack,” Bohovesky said. “Think about what would happen if they did it again. I’m not sure I can handle that.”
