The mother of missing New Jersey woman Stephanie Parze said ex-boyfriend John Ozbilgen slept over the night before her October disappearance — and may have seen her before she vanished, 911 audio reveals.
“[Ozbilgen] said that he saw her last night, he stayed there and he was getting ready for work this morning and has not heard from her since all day,” Sharlene Parze told the dispatcher as she reported her daughter missing in audio posted on NJ.com.
Parze, 25, vanished from her Freehold, New Jersey, home Oct. 30 after a girls night out to see medium Cindy Kaza’s show in New Brunswick, alongside her mother and sister.
Her parents, Edward and Sharlene Parze, later found her car in the driveway and her cell phone stuffed into the couch.
“I’ve been calling and texting her all day,” her frantic mother is heard saying on the 911 call from Oct. 31. “I’ve reached out to almost every friend that she has.”
Sharlene Parze told the operator her other daughter had already contacted Ozbilgen — who was under investigation by authorities after Parze filed a domestic violence complaint against him a month before her disappearance.
The 29-year-old stockbroker was later deemed a “person of interest” in the case. When authorities searched his cellphone for leads, they found child pornography, along with angry messages he sent Parze the night she vanished.
Another ex told the Asbury Park Press Ozbilgen had choked her several times during sex, and she believed he had done the same to Stephanie.
On Nov. 22, less than a month after Parze’s disappearance, Ozbilgen hanged himself in his parent’s Freehold garage.
During the eight-minute 911 call, Sharlene Parze doubted the boyfriend’s story, wondering aloud if Ozbilgen might be lying about seeing Parze the morning she vanished.
“Who’s to say he really slept over and saw her this morning? I don’t know,” Sharlene Parze said during the call.
Parze’s family has pledged to continue the search for their beloved daughter, who worked as a nanny and beautician.
“Stephanie, we love you and we will never stop doing all that we can to find you,” her father wrote in an emotional Facebook post.
