The Teaneck mom who survived a Delaware car crash that killed her husband and four daughters spoke publicly for the first time Friday, saying “a part of me died” alongside them.

Mary Rose Ballocanag, 53, was the only survivor of the July 6 crash on Route 1; killed were her husband, Audi Marquez Trinidad, 61, and their daughters, Kaitlyn, 20, Danna, 17, and 14-year-old twins Melissa and Allison.

“When Audie, Kaitlyn, Danna, Melissa and Allison died, part of me died,” Ballocanag said at Kessler Rehabilitation Center in Saddle Brook, where she is recovering from five fractures to her arms and legs.

“And I’m dying inside over and over again,” she told reporters.

Ballocanag said she is suing the driver, Alvin S. Hubbard Jr., whose work truck veered across the median, striking the family’s minivan. He has not been charged as an investigation continues.
“Justice will not bring them back,” the mom said. “But we will be in a safer place.”
