ALBANY — Talk about chutzpah!

Ousted state Sen. Hiram Monserrate, booted after his conviction for roughing up his gal pal, is hoping to win back his seat by pushing to get on the ballot for a special election next month to fill the vacancy.

He faced a midnight deadline to file a petition with 3,000 signatures from registered voters.

Democratic Party officials are backing Assemblyman José Peralta in the heavily Democratic Queens District. Helen Sears, a former City Council member, has the Republican nod.
