A charter-school advocacy group announced Tuesday that its class-action suit against the city Department of Education over violence in schools has expanded from 11 parental plaintiffs to 24.

Families for Excellent Schools held a rally in front of department headquarters in Manhattan, where several parents recounted their kids’ traumatic experiences.

“Together with dozens of other parents that have similar stories of victimhood and violence, I am calling on the city to fix these problems,” said one parent.

A DOE spokeswoman said, “Crime in schools is down 29 percent, and we’re continuing to implement restorative practices, adding more . . . counselors and social workers and providing additional mental-health supports.”
