The twin main events of the day will be Steve Levy’s upstate-downstate press conferences announcing he’s planning to run as a Republican for governor — and enroll as a Republican.

He’ll be joined by a slew of state GOP bigwigs at both but at the Albany morning event, chairman Ed Cox will be on hand — and Levy was adamant yesterday that an endorsement was coming. If that happens, expect chaos to ensue in the GOP — even more than we’ve seen.

Next up will whatever happens at the Conservative Party’s endorsement meeting tomorrow, where they are set to discuss Rick Lazio and comptroller candidate Harry Wilson (the one person who the majority of Republicans and Conservatives seem to agree on for a statewide ticket).

The Post’s Fred Dicker will bring coverage of the 10 a.m. Albany appearance on “Live from the State Capitol” on Talk 1300.

Mayor Bloomberg has his weekly radio show appearance downstate, while the lack of movement over the state budget continues.
