New Yorkers support Occupy Wall Street and the extension of a millionaire’s tax – and it isn’t just the Democrats backing a levy on the rich.
A Quinnipiac Poll released today shows state voters agree with the views of the protesters, whose primary concern is income inequality, by a 58-28 margin.
By a 74-12 split, Democrats overwhelmingly back the ongoing protest, which began in September and has morphed into a criticism of a variety of issues, from opposing a gas line project to criticizing cops for aggressive tactics.
Republicans oppose Occupy Wall Street by a 53-32 margin.
The GOP supports extending the “millionaire’s tax” in the state 57-34 percent, while state voters overall support it 66-26.
Quinnipiac University polled 1,540 registered voters from Oct. 18 through 24.
