A 38-year-old mother of two teenage boys was found fatally shot in the head in her Staten Island home early Thursday — and police are looking for a man who lives at the residence, police said.
Police responded to a 911 call for shots fired inside 143 South Ave. near Arlington Place in Mariners Harbor just before 1 a.m. and discovered the woman unconscious and unresponsive on the first floor of the home, police said.
EMS pronounced the woman, who has not been identified, deceased at the scene.
A neighbor told WPIX that he is friends with the family and that they have two sons, one in middle school and the other in high school.
The two boys were in the home when their mother was shot, police said.
No arrests have been made, but police are scouring the area with officers in ballistic gear and K-9 units, the station reported.
The suspect, who police said was known to the victim, is believed to have fled the scene in a black SUV, cops said.
The tragic shooting is being investigated as a possible domestic assault, authorities said.
