A Queens motorcyclist is dead after being struck by a car while doing tricks on his bike, witnesses and cops said.
Witnesses said he was speeding down the street on one wheel, and slammed on his brakes when he encountered a car pulling out of a driveway at the last second near the intersection of 136th Avenue and Brookdale Boulevard in Rosedale.
“[He was] doing tricks on his bike, speeding up the street, maybe going 60-70 mph,” said Jared Jones, 28, a nearby resident. “He flew in the air. He landed on his face, and his helmet broke into three pieces.”
Police, however, said the cyclist was hit in the intersection by a driver, who had an expired license, making an illegal U-turn. The driver stayed on the scene, but was issued two traffic citations.
“I just saw a motorcycle sliding down the street, and I thought, oh my God, what’s going on?” said Shandra Lewis, who owns the minivan and called 911. “Then I see young a man, bleeding, pressed up against the side of my minivan. I instinctively screamed.”
Cops have not yet identified the man killed in the crash.
