MOUNT VERNON — Authorities say a Mount Vernon firefighter has died after apparently suffering a heart attack at the scene of a house fire.
According to the Journal News, Fire Commissioner Noah Lighty has identified the longtime firefighter as 54-year-old Kevin Townes.
He had gone to the fire around 4 a.m. Thursday.
