Nearly 500 station agents will be out of work by next Friday, the MTA announced yesterday as officials mailed out layoff letters — a move blasted by labor leaders.

The letters instruct the agents to turn in their badges, keys, rulebooks and logoed uniforms — and to attend an “exit session.”

Seventy booths will be closed, saving $21 million a year, but TWU Local 100 boss John Samuelsen accused MTA CEO Jay Walder of using stimulus money on megaprojects instead of jobs.

“These layoffs are destroying hundreds of families. I hope he sleeps well tonight,” he said, announcing a protest outside Penn Station on Monday.
