MTA puts off hike
Straphangers have been spared.
Despite a still-shaky economy, the MTA will not raise fares or cut service in 2010, said authority chief Jay Walder.
The $12 billion budget, which will go to a board vote in December, cuts 279 employees through attrition. However, there will be 69 more administrative employees.
