ALBANY — MTA Chairman Thomas Prendergast on Wednesday vowed to keep fighting rats in the subway system, as the state Senate confirmed his renomination.
“We’re trying to use the latest state-of-the-art technology,” he explained.
The MTA is trying to do a better job of removing trash to starve the rodents. He also plans to buy powerful vacuum drains that would suck rubbish from the tracks.
“We have a program with someone on the scientific level to try to actually break the cycle so you could curtail the amount of breeding of rats,” he added.
