A New Jersey music teacher inappropriately touched two of his pre-teen students in school in recent years, officials said Friday.
Donnie Harrell, 53, an educator at the Clinton Elementary School in Plainfield, was charged with two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the alleged misconduct, Union County Prosecutor Michael Monahan announced.
Harrell was served the charges via a summons.
An investigation by the prosecutor’s office’s Special Victims Unit revealed that Harrell allegedly inappropriately touched the students, who were under the age of 13, at separate times in 2015 and 2016, according to officials.
The alleged incidents occurred during class and during an after-school tutoring session at the school.
The Clinton Elementary School declined to comment to The Post on the matter Friday.
Convictions on third-degree criminal charges are punishable by three to five years in state prison.
