This takes honoring first responders to new heights.

NASA astronaut Andrew Morgan on Monday paid tribute to the NYPD, FDNY and all those fighting on the front lines of the coronavirus crisis from the International Space Station.

“They run towards scorching flames, rushing floodwaters, sounds of gunfire, and even deadly disease– @FDNY and @NYPDnews set the world standard in selfless community service,” Morgan tweeted.

“We salute you and first responders everywhere from @Space_Station.”

The astronaut also posted a photo of the FDNY crest in an observatory module, showing the emblem seemingly dangling above the earth.

In response, the FDNY thanked him for his own service and “for saluting the heroism of our members and all those on the front lines of this fight.”

“Stay safe, and keep practicing extreme social distancing,” the department quipped.

Morgan arrived on the space station in July 2019 and was expected to return home on April 17.
