Neighboring Nassau County is desperately fighting to prevent a state takeover of its finances — a move that would be a crushing blow, said County Executive Ed Mangano.
“I was elected to govern this county,” Mangano told The Post editorial board yesterday.
Mangano — a Republican who upset Democratic incumbent Tom Suozzi in 2009 — said he balanced last year’s budget without boosting property taxes, and insisted the 2011 financial plan is balanced.
