As if the coronavirus wasn’t bad enough …
A tornado warning was issued Tuesday afternoon for Manhattan and The Bronx by the National Weather Service, as fierce winds and a deluge of rain swept through the area.
“Immediately take shelter on lower floors. Stay away from windows,” read an ominous advisory tweeted by New York City’s Emergency Management alert system.
The warning, which also covered Nassau and Westchester counties, was in effect from 2:30 p.m. through 3 p.m.
While that warning was quickly lifted, a severe thunderstorm warning remained in effect through 3:45 p.m. for Brooklyn and Queens.
