‘Nazi’ teach out
An upstate English teacher has been placed on leave for assigning students to pretend to be Nazis in 1930s Germany and pen letters arguing that “Jews are evil.”
Some of his Albany HS students refused, and the school district apologized for his “insensitivity.”
The assignment in persuasive writing was to precede a class reading of Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel’s memoir, “Night.”
