A dopey intruder learned the hard way that burglarizing a home near a police station house is a bad idea.

John Figueroa, 31, was spotted by a homeowner climbing through the ground-floor window of a house on Tyrrell Street near Arthur Kill Road in Tottenville at noon Wednesday, sources said.

The homeowner chased Figueroa and flagged down a passing police patrol car from the nearby 123rd Precinct station house.

The suspect was quickly arrested on burglary charges, a spokesman for DA Donovan said.
