New hope for 9/11 med bill
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand said yesterday the 9/11 health bill would be voted on by the full Senate before it finishes its lame-duck session after “several” Republicans pledged to support the legislation.
The $7.4 billion bill, called the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, was thought to be dead on Dec. 9 when it was stymied by a GOP filibuster.
But Gillibrand (D-NY) said “we have the votes we need” and “we have indications from several Republicans that they very much want to vote for this bill.”
