NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Connecticut woman savagely mauled by her friend’s 200-pound pet chimpanzee may get a new face and hands, hospital officials said yesterday.
Charla Nash is being evaluated at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate in Boston, to determine whether she’d be a good candidate for the radical procedures, the officials said.
Nash was moved last week from the Cleveland Clinic to a Boston-area assisted-living center Her family wants to keep her exact location private.
The chimp ripped off Nash’s hands, nose, lips and eyelids in February 2009.
