MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — South Carolina investigators tell a television station they have identified people of interest in the year-old case of a missing teen from New York.

WPDE-TV of Myrtle Beach reported Friday that officers from Myrtle Beach and Georgetown and Charleston counties say these people know what happened to Brittanee Drexel of Rochester, N.Y.

Drexel was 17 when was last seen leaving a Myrtle Beach hotel April 25, 2009.

Georgetown County investigator Chris Bailey told the TV station a tip he got in December provided the break in the case. Bailey did not say what that tip was. A telephone message left for him Saturday was not immediately returned.

The girl’s mother, Dawn Drexel, told The Sun News of Myrtle Beach that police did not give her specifics about new information.
