If the local park is crowded, parents have another fun spot to entertain their kids in – the new playground at Public School 203.

Students, staff and other members of the community helped cut the ribbon on the city-funded play-pen at the Mill Basin school, East 52nd Street and Avenue M, which now boasts an athletic track with tennis and volleyball courts, a jungle gymnasium and seating areas in addition to an outdoor classroom and floor games.

The expanded schoolyard, which will be open dawn to dusk and available to the community after school hours and on weekends in the near future, is part of City Hall’s PlaNYC Schoolyards to Playgrounds program, which is investing $95 million in improvements to transform 266 schoolyards into outdoor community play pens.
