A mob geezer was busted by the feds yesterday on charges that date back to when the reputed Genovese capo was merely middle-aged.
Anthony “Rom” Romanello, 73, was indicted on federal racketeering and extortion charges for allegations from the 1990s, including using extortion to collect a debt.
The indictment also charges him with running a gambling operation that grossed a minimum of $2,000 a day, and threatening to use violence to collect money from a second debtor, both in 1999.
Romanello appeared before a judge in Brooklyn federal court and was released after posting $750,000 bail.
In 2006, he was convicted of conspiring to obstruct justice by tampering with a witness, and placed on two years’ probation.
