A 21-year-old drunk driver smashed his pickup truck into an upstate New York home early Saturday morning, according to police.

John Osetkowski crashed his black full-size Ford pickup into a home in Wheatfield in Niagara County around 2 a.m., according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

Police responded to the crash site and pulled Ostekowski and another passenger from the vehicle. Both suffered minor injuries, police said.

The homeowner, who was inside at the time, was not injured.

The home suffered significant structural damage, however, and a building inspector ruled that it is not habitable.

Photos from the scene released by the sheriff’s office showed the truck nearly completely inside the home, with wood splinters and debris littered everywhere.

Police determined that Ostetkowski was speeding and failed to yield to a stop sign when hit the home.

Osetkowski, of North Tonawanda, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and several traffic citations. 

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment in custody.
