LAWRENCE, Mass. — A man wanted in connection with the alleged theft of $5.7 million from Columbia University has been captured in Massachusetts.

Police in Lawrence say 46-year-old Jeremy Dieudonne was apprehended on Friday by police pretending to be responding to a 911 call. He was arraigned on a fugitive from justice charge in Massachusetts and turned over to New York City police on Tuesday.

Authorities tell The Eagle-Tribune Dieudonne was living under the name Hector Santiago in Lawrence.

He was one of three men indicted on grand larceny and other charges for allegedly siphoning the money from the Ivy league school’s accounts between Oct. 4, 2010 and Nov. 24, 2010 and putting the money in accounts under their own names.

It was not immediately clear if Dieudonne had a lawyer.
