New Yorkers aged 50 and older no longer need to make an appointment to receive a COVID-19 vaccination — they can walk right into more than 30 locations throughout the five boroughs.
The city made the announcement Saturday in the hopes that giving a large swath of the population access to hassle free walk-in appointments will help it reach its goal of vaccinating 5 million people by June.
Previously, walk-in vaccinations were only available to New Yorkers 75 and older.
“Starting TODAY, New Yorkers 50 and older can walk into any City-run site and get vaccinated. No appointment necessary,” Mayor de Blasio tweeted Saturday.
No health insurance is needed to get vaccinated at city-run inoculation facilities.
