The city is about to sign a deal to allow fines and bills to be paid by smartphones through PayPal.

The contract includes any payments to the city, from property taxes to parking fines, making the online service the fourth option in addition to credit cards, e-checks and mobile wallets.

PayPal’s profit will come from a service charge on each transaction that will be paid by the customer, not the city.
