New York’s COVID-19 positivity rate fell below 2 percent, sinking to the lowest number since Nov. 3, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday.

Of the 233,067 coronavirus tests that came back Friday, 4,164 — or 1.79 percent — were positive, Cuomo said.

The statewide positivity rate when measured on a seven-day average was 2.27 percent Friday, the lowest since Nov. 9. The rate in New York City fell to 2.42 percent.

A total of3,294 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 Friday, the lowest count since Nov. 27. Hospitalizations fell by 540 during the last week, Cuomo said.

Forty people died across the state Friday including 26 New York City residents.

The state had administered 14,295,610 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine as of Saturday afternoon with 44 percent of New Yorkers getting at least one jab, Cuomo said.
