A statewide ban on using e-cigarettes indoors in New York took effect on Wednesday.

The electronic devices are no longer allowed anywhere regular cigarettes are banned.

That includes restaurants, workplaces, schools and public transportation.

Gov. Cuomo signed a law last month adding e-cigarettes to the state’s Clean Indoor Air Act.

He is now considering whether to sign another bill that would require businesses selling e-cigs to make sure those purchasing them meet age requirements, just as they do for regular cigarettes.
