Newark’s Board of Education is planning to have different schools share buildings next fall to save money and create more options for students.

Seven publicly funded charter schools would be located in district-owned buildings. The rent would generate some revenue for the school district.

As part of a way to make space, 11 other public schools will be involved in consolidations.

District officials say the plan would save more than $4 million next year.
