A two-alarm house fire in Newark left one person dead and seven others — including a child — injured, according to a report.

The blaze broke out just after 11 p.m. in a three-story home on Magazine Street, reports NJ.com.

The fire quickly spread from the second floor of the building to the third floor, before spreading to an adjacent building, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose told the paper.

More than 70 firefighters were needed to extinguish the flames.

One man, whose name was not released, died in the blaze. Seven others, including the child, were taken to Newark University Hospital for treatment. Two of the victims are in critical condition, according to the report.

The fire, which spread to another building, was brought under control before midnight.

The blaze displaced 15 people, authorities said.

Prosecutors and arson investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
