New Jersey’s largest city is celebrating a birthday this weekend.

Newark is marking its 175th anniversary as an incorporated city.

First founded by the Puritans in 1666, Newark was incorporated as a city in 1836.

Mayor Cory Booker marks the occasion today by attending an event at the Newark Museum.
