Albany — Tightrope daredevil Nik Wallenda got an OK yesterday from Gov. Cuomo to take a high-wire walk over Niagara Falls.

Cuomo signed a bill into law exempting Wallenda — the seventh generation of the legendary Flying Wallenda acrobat clan — from regulations prohibiting stunts on the American side of the Niagara River.

He wants to walk over the falls between the United States and Canada on a wire 2 inches in diameter and about 1,800 feet long. It would be the first Niagara Falls high-wire walk in more than a century.

The “King of the High Wire” still needs approval from Canadian officials.

The Buffalo News reported he plans to wait until after Canadian elections to make his bid.

But he’s already planning the feat.

“Amazing news! IT’S OFFICIAL!!! I will be walking over Niagara Falls Summer 2012!” he declared in a Facebook posting.
