The New Jersey attorney general is investigating why a CVS pharmacy distributed breast-cancer-treatment pills to children instead of the fluoride pills they were prescribed.
CVS officials said only a few children ingested the cancer-fighting drug Tamoxifen, which they received from a pharmacy in Chatham.
The pharmacy has acknowledged improperly dispensing the wrong drug to children in as many as 50 families between Dec. 1 and Feb. 20.
No injuries related to the mix-up had been reported as of yesterday afternoon.
The two pills are similar looking, but have distinctively different tastes.
