New Jersey cops said Friday that thanks to social media, they’ve identified the woman found dead on the shore of a waterfront park.
Police had previously released a facial-reconstruction sketch of the dead woman, who was found in Carteret in Middlesex County, while asking for any clues to help identify her.
“**UPDATE** As a result of social media, the victim has been identified. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share the post,” New Jersey State Police tweeted Friday afternoon.
Authorities did not publicly ID the woman.
The body of the woman — in her 20s and believed to be of Middle Eastern descent — was discovered Feb. 2 along the shore of the Carteret Waterfront Park, cops said Thursday.
Carteret police said she died of drowning and that “there were no signs of trauma or foul play,” according to the borough’s Facebook page.
The 5-foot-6, 125-pound woman was wearing black Adidas pants, a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, black jacket and Adidas sneakers when her body was found, state police said.
