MORRISTOWN, N.J. — Calling him “an exploitative, opportunistic parasite,” a New Jersey judge has sentenced a man to more than 27 years in state prison for sexually molesting a young woman outside a bagel shop.
At Monday’s sentencing, Superior Court Judge Salem Vincent Ahto said 42-year-old Andrew Pena of Vernon must serve at least 85 percent of his term before parole consideration.
Pena, who was found guilty by a Morris County jury in August, insisted he was a victim of mistaken identity.
Prosecutors say the 19-year-old victim had gone to a bagel shop in Butler at 3:15 a.m. on Jan. 28, 2007. She stayed in the car while they went inside. Pena yanked the door open, pulled her out and sexually assaulted her with his hands.
