LOWER ALLOWAYS CREEK TOWNSHIP, NJ — A southern New Jersey nuclear-power plant has been temporarily shut down so crews can clear vegetation and rubbish that’s blocking cooling-water intakes.

Salem news service Today’s Sunbeam yesterday reported that the Salem I reactor was manually taken offline around 4 p.m. on Thursday.
