A New Jersey police dispatcher has resigned over comments he made on Facebook about a young black child protesting police brutality, township and department officials said.

Marc Repace, who worked for the Woodbridge Township Police Department, stepped down from his post Monday after department officials took disciplinary action against him for remarks he made on a Facebook photo posted Friday of an 8-year-old boy at a protest in Boston in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death in police custody, NJ.com reports.

The photo depicted the boy holding a sign that read: “At what age do I go from handsome to a threat?”

“17 give or take a year or two,” Repace replied, according to screenshots obtained by the outlet. “LMFAO totally kidding.”

The since-deleted comment, made to a Woodbridge resident, prompted a swift, scathing reply.

“You are absolutely disgusting,” the response read. “You were in the military and now you work for the Woodbridge Police Department you fit the stereotype. I honestly don’t understand how you can be making jokes at a time like this when the country is completely divided.”

Repace was “immediately suspended” once department officials identified him as the person responsible for the post, Woodbridge Township spokesman John Hagerty told NJ.com.

Repace later resigned following a review of the post, Hagerty said.

A message seeking comment from Hagerty was not immediately returned early Tuesday.

Police Capt. Scott Kuzma confirmed Tuesday that Repace resigned, but declined to elaborate, saying it was a personnel matter.

“He resigned because he resigned,” Kuzma told The Post. “We’re not going to make it bigger than it is, and it was handled.”

Department officials referenced the post in a statement released Sunday, saying they were “saddened and dismayed” by the message sent by one of its civilian employees.

“Immediate action has been taken to discipline the employee,” the statement read. “The Woodbridge Police Department does not condone this type of behavior from any of its personnel and is dedicated to the fair and impartial administration of justice for every member of our community.”

Repace, of Woodbridge, had nothing to say when reached Tuesday by The Post.

“I have no comment at this time,” Repace said.
