NEWARK, N.J. — A state senator wants his councilman son to apologize for an online comment about New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
Newark Councilman Ronald Rice Jr. joked on Facebook last week in a post about education spending whether Christie was “on crack.”
His father, state Sen. Ronald Rice Sr., issued a statement Monday saying he thinks his 42-year-old son is “a little too quick on the keyboard for his own good sometimes.”
The son did not respond to messages seeking comment from The Star-Ledger of Newark and The Record’s Statehouse Bureau.
The Facebook post questioned whether Christie would have Newark use some of its $100 million donation from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg to replace state funding cut by Christie’s administration.
