The woman who fatally shot her husband in their New Jersey home this week is a warden at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, officials said. 

Antonia Ashford, 44 — who allegedly murdered Roderick Ashford, 47, at their Jackson Township home early Monday — serves as an associate warden at the Sunset Park detention facility, the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed. 

Roderick Ashford was also a BOP employee and worked as a drug treatment specialist at FCI Fort Dix in southern Jersey, authorities said.

Police responded to the couple’s home around 2:15 a.m. after receiving a 911 call indicating that a man had been shot. 

Officers found Roderick Ashford lying unresponsive on the floor, with a gunshot wound to the face. 

Police tried to save him, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on scene, authorities said. 

Antonia Ashford was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where she is being held pending a detention hearing.

The couple’s next-door neighbor Sandy Troyano told The Asbury Park Press that the family had only lived on the street for a few months. 

“Who would think this could happen?” she said. “It’s right in your own backyard.”

The Metropolitan Detention Center has long been criticized by detainees, attorneys and even a senior federal judge for horrific conditions suffered by prisoners in the jail.

Even Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged madam, had to be moved to a different cell in June, as her lawyer claimed in a court filing that vermin droppings fell from the air vents in the one where she was previously held — which was also recently “permeated” by raw sewage.
