First responders evacuated a train full of straphangers on Friday after the locomotive partially derailed just north of the elevated Parkchester station in the Bronx, the MTA said.
“At approximately 3:04 p.m. the emergency brakes were automatically activated,” MTA subways chief Sally Librera said in a statement.
“The train operator and a supervisor inspected the outside of the train and discovered one axle/two wheels had left the track.”
Librera said an investigation into the “minor derailment” is underway.
As of 5:30 p.m., 6 train service was suspended north of Hunts Point Avenue, according to the agency’s Twitter account.
Police officials confirmed the incident and said no injuries were reported.
