No pork on menu: Liu
If he has the power to do so, Comptroller John Liu said yesterday he intends to examine the connection between campaign contributions and City Council discretionary grants.
Liu — a former Queens council member himself — promised during his campaign for the comptroller’s job to review the council’s “member items,” commonly referred to as pork.
At a breakfast sponsored by City Hall News, Liu went considerably further by saying he’d not only want to look at “any relationships” between legislators and the community groups they fund, but also whether campaign contributions play a role.
