ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — Police in northern New Jersey are seeking a supervisor accused of trying to run over a worker with her city-owned car.

Englewood Public Works Department supervisor Danette Adams is considered a fugitive after she failed to turn herself in on Friday.

Detective Lt. Timothy Torell told The Record newspaper officers were unsuccessful in trying to arrest Adams at her home twice.

Adams was charged with attempted assault for allegedly trying to run over John Cioffi as she drove into the public works yard on Oct. 28.

The city truck driver had filed a racial discrimination suit against Adams in 2008.

The suit, which was settled in a 2009, claimed Adams, who is black, snapped her fingers at Cioffi, whistled and yelled, “Come here, white boy. Come here, white boy.”
