The Westminster Dog Show kicked off yesterday, and the fur quickly flew, as canines gathered from around the world.

Afghan hound Jimmy James (pictured) pranced with owner Juan Miranda, of Mexico City, in a preliminary round at Pier 92/93 on the West Side.

They’ll have competition, as 2,721 dogs vie for the 2013 Westminster crown, to be delivered today at Madison Square Garden.
