Officials say a 40-year-old cemetery worker on Staten Island suffered serious injuries when a piece of heavy equipment fell on him.

A fire department spokesman says the man was taken to a hospital following the accident just before 9 a.m. Friday. His condition wasn’t immediately known.

The accident occurred at the Ocean View Cemetery in the borough’s Oakwood section.
