ALBANY, N.Y. — Two downstate New York Republican senators say increasing tolls at New York-New Jersey tunnels will hurt a fragile economic recovery.

State Sens. Charles Fuschillo of Long Island and Andrew Lanza of Staten Island are calling on the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to reject the proposed increases in Hudson River tolls.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie are reviewing the proposal now.

The proposal would as much as double tolls at the Lincoln and Holland tunnels and at the George Washington Bridge as well as three other bridges between New Jersey and Staten Island.
