What a night-MARE!

An 84-year-old New York resident alleges an acquaintance sold his harness-racing horse in Manalapan, NJ without his knowledge.

Manalapan cops are now probing the hoof-winked New Yorker’s Oct. 6 tale.

“The horse was being kept at a farm in Manalapan” while the unidentified octogenarian owner was in the hospital with an unspecified condition, Manalapan Police Sgt. Robert Herring told The Post. “Somewhere along the way, the horse was sold at an auction.”

Herring would not identify the farm where the racehorse had been staying, the players involved, or where the auction took place.

There are no arrests.

Freehold Raceway, a harness track, is nearby.
